igus® was founded on October 15, 1964, in a garage in Cologne-Mülheim. Since then, we’ve been creating innovative, lubrication-free plastics that keep the world moving. Our products are used in cars, cranes, furniture, machines, robots, and even bicycles. One example is the igus®, a unique urban bike made from recycled plastic. It showcases many of the great benefits our products offer.

To celebrate the occasion of the company’s 60th anniversary, the lubrication-free and maintenance-free igus:bike will travel the world for a whole year through 16 countries to raise awareness of the topic of the “circular economy of plastics”. It aims to familiarise customers with a new form of urban mobility that combines fun riding as well with sustainability. The urban bike boasts several key advantages of igus® motion plastics products, demonstrating how innovation can bring consumers closer and drive successful transformation. The bike is corrosion-free, shock-resistant, lightweight & cost-effective oil-free and designed for minimal maintenance.

igus® delivers solutions across a wide range of industries from automobiles to furniture, machinery, robotics etc. igus® has been manufacturing products for the bicycle industry for over 60 years and is committed to driving forward the transformation to a sustainable circular economy for plastics. Plastic waste from across the world might become the raw material for igus® bikes in the future. This process involves fishing nets, shampoo bottles and other plastic waste into a recycled pellet, turning discarded materials into valuable material for molding. In addition to this, the bicycle offers riding comfort with its dampening properties.

The igus:bike is set to arrive in India in the last week of January 2025. It will stay for three weeks, it will travel across the country, visiting customers and exploring iconic sights. Stay tuned and follow its journey around the globe with igus®.
